About us

Founded in 1992, the International Association of Land Use Planning Law (AIDRU – Association internationale de droit de l’urbanisme) is formed of national associations studying land use planning law. Specialists of the field can also join AIDRU in an individual capacity.

AIDRU devotes itself to the study and the development of comparative land use planning law in order to enhance mutual knowledge of this field of law.

From the outset, AIDRU’s main focus has been to organize a biennial international conference on a specific topic of land use planning law. The proceedings of the conferences are always published. The choice of the organizing city rotates between the countries which have either a national association or individual specialists as members of AIDRU.

More broadly, AIDRU aims to foster the exchange of information and experiences between its members in a friendly fashion.

At its outset, AIDRU conducted its activities only in French. Since 2015, the working languages of the association are French and English.
